Playtime Series (2018)

A photographic series of works exploring bodies interacting with my sculptural works, in a manner of their own choosing. Participants are artists, peers, or members of the public, who can nominate the sculpture they prefer to interact with. Playtime #3 was produced during a 2018 workshop at Boxcopy, Brisbane, as part of the exhibition There’s something happening here… (extended remix). It was later shown in Love Letters to Feminisms at Trocadero Artspace, Melbourne, curated by Margaret Mayhew + Nilmini Fernando. Thank you to Beth Jackson + Thea Jackson who appear in Playtime #3, and to all participants in the photo series.

This series builds on a body of work created during a three month residency at NARS Foundation (NYC) in 2017. A series of objects that emerged in response to the Charlottesville riots in the USA fuelled new investigations of the soft and/or flexible object as an embodied strategy for feminist resistance.
